Purlmark — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 September 2026

Purlmark is a row counter for knitters. It runs on your iPhone and iPad.

The short version

Purlmark has no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything you put into it — your projects, patterns, photos, yarn and row counts — is written to Purlmark's own folder on your device. We cannot see any of it, because it never reaches us.

What Purlmark stores, and where

Projects, row counts, repeats, reminders, notes
Purlmark's app folder on your device
Patterns you paste or scan
Purlmark's app folder on your device
PDF patterns you open
Copied into Purlmark's app folder on your device
Project and yarn photos
Copied into Purlmark's app folder on your device
Your Ravelry keys, if you enter them
The iPhone keychain, marked "this device only"

If you have iCloud Backup switched on, Apple backs up your apps' folders, including Purlmark's, to your own iCloud account. That is Apple's backup of your own device — we have no access to it. Your Ravelry keys are excluded from it, because they are stored as "this device only".

What Purlmark sends, and to whom

Purlmark makes exactly one kind of network request, and only when you ask for it:

That is the complete list. There is no other network activity.

Permissions Purlmark may ask for

You can withdraw any of these at any time in iOS Settings → Purlmark. Purlmark keeps working without them; you lose only the feature that needed the permission.

Purchases

Purlmark Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app whether the purchase exists; that is all we receive.

Tracking and advertising

There is none. Purlmark contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking SDK of any kind. Purlmark does not use the advertising identifier and does not ask for tracking permission, because it has nothing to track you with.

Children

Purlmark does not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age, because it collects nothing.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and everything it stored goes with it. Individual projects and yarn can be deleted inside the app by swiping the row.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version appears here and in the app under Tools → Privacy.
